Tom Cruise is more than just a pretty face. I guess anyone who listens TO the E!Channel with half an ear knows that he's deeply involved IN his religion (he once wanted TO be a priest, AND has BEEN a devout Scientologist since THE 1980s), with his family (he is dad TO two kids, Isabella AND Conor, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman), AND just plain humanity at large (he's played THE life-saving hero IN real life more than once -- everything from rescuing a seven-year-old boy from a crushing crowd, TO taking a woman injured IN a car accident TO the hospital AND paying her bill).
Cruising through Parenthood as a Megastar: Mission Impossible?
After his amicable breakup with his Vanilla Sky co-star Penelope Cruz, AND the critical success of his summer action thriller Collateral, Cruise has settled (at least for now) with his sister Cass AND her three children IN Los Angeles. "Life is good," Cruise says, adding he's spent THE past few months working AND "hanging out with THE kids. I've BEEN very busy. We're prepping a Cameron Crowe picture called Elizabethtown, with Orlando Bloom AND Kirsten Dunst AND Susan Sarandon, AND that's going good. I haven't had a break."

SheKnows had a chance TO catch up with Tom (yes, we're on a first name basis... He calls us "She") TO ask him about THE really important things IN life. Here's what he had TO say.

SheKnows: With all that you've gone through recently, how do you keep everything centered AND balanced?

Tom Cruise: I've BEEN able TO find peace, most definitely. I mean it's well known I'm a scientologist AND that has helped me TO find that inner peace IN my life. AND it's something that has given me great stability AND tools that I use. AND it's also something that's enabled me TO help others IN a way that I've always wanted to, something substantial.

In scientology, we have study technology that is applied AND really enables a person TO educate themselves so they can become literate, rehabilitate education. We have Narc-Anon that rehabilitates criminals, THE most successful drug rehabilitation program IN the world, AND it's helped hundreds of thousands of people get off drugs AND live a drug-free life AND go back TO society AND actually have happiness AND not feel that they have a disease.

So there's a lot of things IN my life that have, through that, given me inner peace. Most definitely. It's really helping. SK: What do you want for yourself?

Tom: Okay. What do I want? I want a world without war, a world without insanity. I want TO see people do well. I don't even think it's as much as what I want for myself. It's more what I want for THE people around me. That's what I want.

I really want TO see an end TO the drugging of children throughout THE world as a solution TO improper education. That's what I want. I want people TO have tolerance. Those are THE things I work towards, with THE literacy programs that we have -- you see people who are homeless come in AND for free they learn these study tools AND go out AND start getting jobs AND being able TO raise their kids.

Children that come IN who are diagnosed with ADD AND ADHD, dyslexia AND are put on drugs, lethal drugs, that we help them through a doctor come down off these drugs AND actually give them these study tools AND they're suddenly A students.

I think IN society we've reached a point where education is about learning is tantamount TO memorization AND not THE ability TO take IN data AND information AND differentiate that data, so you can then think with it AND go out AND apply it IN your life AND get a job, BE happy, have a family.

It's about memorization AND if you look at today IN society where corporate America is having TO retrain people out of college because they are -- so with false data AND wrong solutions AND now drugging these children, which complicates it. So those are THE things I'm working TO stop happening. (Continued)
